MTI Welding has worked with 123Ranking for 18 months, but expanded their SEO and digital marketing campaign in September 2014 to take advantage of search engine usage in the welding industry. The brief was to design and launch a new mobile compatible website in just 2 months and implement an integrated SEO and social media strategy. A key goal was to increase the volume and quality of their enquires and sales leads and reinforce their online presence as the market leader in their industry.


It was quickly recognised that the website was receiving a high number of mobile visitors, however, when they got to the site they left soon after due to it not being mobile friendly. Therefore, 123Ranking developed an online strategy that identified the areas that required improvement and guided the development of the new mobile friendly website. 123Ranking coordinated and worked on the layout, graphic design, copy-writing and keyword implementation which together was the key to the redesigned website.

Once the website design was under way it was time to start thinking about the content strategy and improving it by writing unique, engaging, SEO friendly content that would attract visitors, please search engines and emphasise their keywords and their unique selling points.

The next stage of the project was to set about creating and implementing a thought leadership social media strategy. This was done by setting the client up with the relevant social media channels – the appropriate research had been done to determine what social networking sites they should have and what style of updates would be posted.


The results of the efforts reflect the potential of a consultancy based digital marketing strategy. 123Ranking designed and built a brand new mobile-friendly website in just under two months, which has seen their website traffic and enquiries increase dramatically. As well as having a fully functional mobile friendly site MTI Welding’s keywords have made significant improvements in just two months, with 50% of them showing on the first page of Google – the majority of them are in positions 1-3.

123Ranking have also leveraged their online presence through carefully planned and researched social media posts which have seen some of the industries top publications including, The Manufacturer, Manufacturing Matters, Metal-forming Machinery Markets and MAS follow and re-tweet and follow their twitter account.

Overall the digital marketing strategy has increased MTI Welding’s online footprint to create greater visibility on the world wide web.
